How to include slide number on handout?

I am using Powerpoint 2002 SP3. In Print Preview under options I checked off the box to show slide numbers for my handout, however the slide numbers are not appearing.

Any ideas of what I may be doing wrong?

Check your slide master to ensure that there are no graphics or text boxes obscuring the page number.
