How to import Illustrator file?

Will anyone help me on how to import a file in .ai to 3D Studio Max 6? I kept getting the error "Line in file exceeds 255 characters" and I don't know even if the this file is only a circle.

I use Adobe Illustrator CS.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
