Hi Gurus,

I have a tab delimited text file.
If I open it with Excel, all the tab delimited values appear in consecutive columns. That is fine.
Now I have to left align horzontally, align top vertically and word wrap the cells.

My question is...
Is there any way I can create the text file, so that when it is opened in Excel, it will automatically left align horzontally, align top vertically and word wrap the cells.
For generating the tab delimited file, I insert tab characters (decimal 9) after each column.
Likewise is there anything I need to put in the text file, which will make excel to do atleast word warp, if not all the things that were said above.

Thanks in advance
Mallik

Hi Mallik,

If you record your actions as a macro, you can use that to autoate the task next time round. Granted, recorded macros aren't very efficient or flexible but, if they do the job, it's much better than doing it manually.

If the requirements vary from file to file, post back the recorded code and a description of what you want to be able to vary/

Sounds like you are using Excel in database mode.

If so, why not import your text file into a Word table, where you will have much more control of text formatting.

Cheers,
