I am new to cognos. I would like to know how to give users access to folder so that it appears in the users public folders when they login.

Thank you.

In folder properties, on the permission tab, add the user (or preferably the user's group) and give the entry Traverse permission.

I added a single user and gave travese permissions.

And when login as user to check the folder, I did not see it under public folders of the user.

Try giving all access (or at least Read, Execute, Traverse) to Everyone, see if that makes a difference. I don't know what else to say except maybe you didn't create the folder where you think you did? Either that or you're running C8 and the privilege definitions have changed from ReportNet; in ReportNet we give Traverse only to groups we want to see folders.
