Hi Guys,
I have been given a Project to get all the names of the Devices ( PCs, Servers, Routers etc. ) connected to Our Lan Switches. On the switch I can get a list of MAC addresses via the arp table but I dont know how to get the host names of these devices....
Can anyone suggest a method or some piece of software that might help?
Thanks a million
Paul

you can try downloading network supervisor from 3com.

or search for the freeware ping sweep programs many will do that.

one thing that is nice is it enumerates wheter it's a printer, router, workstation etc... but putting it into a list format I don't remember if it does but better than doing a dump of arp...

Jeff,
thanks for that, I did a search on google for a ping sweeper and was overwhelmed with results. Would you know a specific program at all?
Thanks again
Paul
