Its a AMS TECH TravelPRO 2500 CT with Award Bios v 4.51PG. I guess AMS TECH company is out of business, and can't find any support. I've tried the standards, del,F2-F12, alt-f2,ins, Esc, and nothing. Thanks in advance for the reply.

Another one I have found works on some BIOSes is Ctrl Alt Enter, but my machine with an Award 4.51PG bios uses Del (not backspace) to gain access to the setup program.
Whichever key combination is correct for your motherboard it normally has to be pressed during the BIOS memory test.

nope, thanks for the reply though, did find alt-del reboots the PC though! Frustrating....

Howdy Darb:

I have yet to see a system that didn't tell you what keys to press to get into "Setup" (BIOS) during the boot procedure.. Just watch your screen during the memory check.. It should tell you right there !!

Also, if it has a splash screen on boot, try hitting the tab key. Generally the splash screen'll go away, and let you actually see what the BIOS is telling you, it might be listed there.

Try holding down a key as soon as you turn on the computer hopefully generating a bad keyboard message.

on my pc running on an ASUS mobo the asus logo appears for a milisecond or so if i hit the pause break button it then lets you see the list of commmands like alt-f2 for new bios or Del to access the bios i dont no if this is on any other boards but its a guess

Thanks for the replies. Believe it or not, this PC doesn't show how to get into Bios, its a first for me too. Of course I have tried the f1 and ESC, there is no splash screen, and the pause break thing didn't work. No wonder AMS Tech went out of business!!

It may be a situation like Compaq PCs, where you have to watch closely and be poised to hit the key (F10 in their case) the instant you see a square cursor in the upper right. You have about 1 second to hit the key, or you have to reboot and try again.

Does the keyboard work OK? I have a Solo 2500 that wouldn't let me into BIOS (F2) because certain keys were defective!

HI.. I have a laptop that a co-worker put a bios password on and he had quit..
I dont know how to reset it...

thnx

I've just been playing with a valuable? antique, the Compaq Portable III. (Cost $5k in 1988 apparently).

This monstrosity requires a setup program to change the bios.

Unfortunately, with the cmos battery flat, it forgot everything it ever knew about disk drives, and I had to run the setup program from an external 5.25in floppy to set it up.

I trust that this isn't the case with the machine you are having problems with.
