I need to add an ethernet interface to a cisco 3825 series router. I powered off the router and installed a hwic-1fe module in an open slot. But I don't see the interface after I booted the router.

Should the router automatically see new module, or is there a command set needed?

Please let me know if anyone has experience with this...

Thanks,
Jeff

Router should see card automatically. Have you tried card in a different slot? If that doesn't work could be faulty card.

I tried a few different hwic slots... I guess it could be a bad card.

Here's the sho ver:

Bottom right slot is slot 0, bottom left is slot 1, top right is slot 2, and top left is slot 3...have you tried the next in order empty slot? Cisco Software Advisor keeps coming up with errors, but the 3825 supports that module---should be straight forward, which is why I concur that it's a bad card...is it Genuine Cisco, or some other company?

Cool. I tried the software advisor, but it never got there...
