Peer to peer network running FileMaker 6.

When I "open..." from file menu i am prompted to enter password to open file.

But when I try to open the same file from a button formatted to run a script it DOES NOT prompt for entering a password.

How can I open this file from a button running a script and force it to require a password?

FM will try to open the linked file with the same password.
If the two files has the same password, the second file will open without prompt for password.
FM just assume the user of a password protected file will have the right to open another file with the same password.

Changing the password of the second file can be a solution.
Or change the access privileges for the whole application.

Thanks JeanW - the files did share the same MASTER password...when I was signed in on the one file with a restricted password and tried opening the 2nd file, I was prompted to enter a password! PROBLEM SOLVED and so quickly...thank you, thank you! Now, had I thought of posting to a forum earlier, I might still have hair on my head!

if you hold down shift while clicking the button or for that matter any time you open a file it will force the password dialog box to pop up even if the file opening has the same account and PW as the one you initiate it from
