Hi,

I bought a Celleron 1.1ghz processor and after installing it I booted up and had a blank screen(since then I re-installed my 733 cpu and it works fine). I have a MSI motherboard and the manual said it supports up to a 1.1 celleron...I called the shop I bought it from and he said I need to flash the BIOS. So I downloaded the new BIOS, My question is how do I flash the BIOS? Do I install the new processor then boot up with the new BIOS flash? or Do I flash the BIOS with my 733cpu then install the 1.1cpu? Which is the best method? Any other tips that would help?

Thanks in advance

If it won't boot with the new processor and the original manual says it should you may have other problems. If you are still going to flash the bios do it with the old processor.

depending on the BIOS manufacturer, you normally update or flash the BIOS from a floppy. Some manufacturers have utilities that allow you to update the BIOS from within the operating system. Either way, you'll need to put the old processor back in to at least be able to boot to floppy or OS.

Thanks for the suggestions Franklin and Dandy...I'll try flashing the BIOS with the 733cpu. I did not see any jumpers on the MotherBoard could that also be a possible problem?

Thanks
