where are places i can look on a PC when someone has deleted their cookies and temp internet files?

You can check the History folder (also under IE>TOOLS) and recent Documents (Start>Documents).
Use the pulldown address bar in the browser, that will tell you the addresses the user typed in by hand.
Also check the recycled bin.
Change the user's password, log in as the user and check the Favorites folder.

Hope this helps.

This may not help now, but for the future, you can also set a GPO to prevent the users from deleting their Temp Internet files and Cookies. Just disable the General tab (Tools>Internet Options). User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Internet Explorer. Also, disable Tools>Folder Options (Windows Explorer) to prevent them from viewing hidden files and folders (User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Windows Explorer).

i cannot find the user configuration area

you could also take a peek in index.dat (u can open it in excel)

Go to Start>Run>mmc and open an new mmc. Click on Console>Add/Remove Snap-ins. From the list, select Group Policy and choose local machine and click Finish/O.K. Then close the Add/Remove Snap-ins window. From there, you should see Computer Configuration and User Configuration, just expand the User Configuration.
