I would like to know where in Windows 98 I could find the DOS characteristics of my Sound Blaster Live Value card i.e. the line as "Set Blaster A220 IRQ....in the autoexec.bat file

Is it currently loading in the Autoexec.bat? I think if you look in the Device manager there are some setting that support Legacy devices or DOS emulation or something of that sort (I use Win2K so mine is a bit Different) I dont think the Live loads any TSR stuff for itself does it? James Collins

If you are having difficulty with DOS support try the following:

If you are having difficulty in MS-DOS mode, you should first try running the test program, SBEGO. This program should be found in the C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\SBLIVE\DOSDRV directory on your harddrive.

If the test program produces an error that it can not use a particular resource, you will want to use a different setting for that resource in DOS mode. To do this, reboot back into Windows. Once Windows is back up, open the System applet from Control Panel and click on the Device Manager tab. Click on the plus sign next to Creative Miscellaneous Devices and double click on the listing for Creative SB Live! 16 Emulation. Click on the Resources tab, make sure that Use automatic settings is unchecked and select Basic Configuration 0005 in the drop-down menu next to the words Setting based on. You should now be able to change the offending resource by double-clicking on its respective listing in the Resource Settings box.

You should be able to find the settings tha card is using in device manager, just bring up the properties of the sound card, and the hardware settings it uses are identical to the ones you need for DOS.

However, and I'm sorry if you know this already - do you have a DOS driver for your card, or are you assuming the windows one will work? Creative do have a DOS drive for download (in the windows 95 section I think).
