hi,

i am working on the report that somebody was created. there is a parameter in the report ?Dept that is being used in the report. the report has atleast two sub reports. I am trying to find out where the parameter was used in the report? I couldnt. how to find that? I tried finding "Dept","?Dept",'"{?Dept}"but not found. when i try to remove that parameter, it is showing a warning message. can anybody help me how to solve this problem?

thanks

Hi,
There are 3 places to start looking:
In the Record selection formula,
In the Group selection formula.
In any other formulas defined in the report..

Do an edit->find and enter Dept and find. It's possible that it may have been hidden under a bigger field or item.

Try changing the datatype in the parameter setup screen. This will cause error messages and should bring up the locations in the report where the parameter is being used. It seems likely that one of those will be in the subreport links screen.

Also, try looking at the suppression formulae for individual fields.

You could also try exporting to Report Definition format, which will export the report to a text file. You can search through the text file to find the ?Dept.
