quick question:

my pc is running behide a router.
beside going into the router setup page to find out the public ip address (real ip)

is there any easier faster way you can do it?
maybe something you can type under command port?

ipconfig /all only show the LAN ip.

???

thanx in advance

Hi

I would do a tracert to a address on the internet and you will see each hop and the address, your public address will be the hop between your private address range and your provider's public address range.

Regards

David

No. A Tracert will only give him the router's LAN IP and the gateway IP for his router at the ISP...

I tried your link

It gave me this

195.92.168.165:

Now I'm sure that's wrong :-(

How can I go forward when I don't know which way I'm facing (John Lennon)

i try the link too....

it gave me the correct one

Why do you think it is wrong? Log in to your router and see what IP address it is assigned by the ISP.

I also tried the mbk-networks link, and it showed the correct IP address.

I've always used for this type of troubleshooting.

Doesn't do everything, but it's a good start (especially when you're not on a computer that is yours!!)
I have helped a number of friends with their computers this way.

hope it helps!
