Hi All,

Can anyone assist me with how to find out the IP address of a working remote Openstage IP HFA phone from the Hipath 3000 Manager or Hipath GW WBM.

My client has several phones in remote depots across the country and sometimes we need to log into the phones and change some parameters.

I have checked everywhere in the 3000 manager and the GW Web based management, but still cannot find anywhere the registered IP address of the phone can be found.

Please any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

You may try IP scanner for your network scan define define range of IP address and scan you will get Siemens IP devices in result.

our phones we can access by doing if we don't know the IP. There are a couple of settings in the phone I believe that allow that to happen. It has been a while since I had to do that by hand. Could save you time in the long run. That should work on both the openstage and the 410/420 series.

Thanks for your incisive responses @IPEXE and donb01, however here are my thoughts.
1. If I scan IP range with scanner, since I am in the HQ network I would not see the Layer2 Macs of the devices in the remote factories or depots( as these are in another subnet with a router/firewall/Packeteer in between) hence it might be difficult to recognize which IP addresses belong to Siemens/unify phones as Mac would show the Mac of local gw router!!

2. If I get the local IT manager in the plant to scan the IPs, we would likely get many IPs like 20 to 50 IPs that it becomes tedious to spot the particular one of interest..

3. I would try donb01 suggestion of where I believe XXX is the presumed extension number of the phone, My only fear is that the FQDN may not resolve to the phone's IP address if been done from a different segment. (Will try it out and feed back)

4. I really find it odd and disappointing that Siemens would not have a way of querying the PABX for the ip address mapping to registered extensions table. (or perhaps include it in the GW WBM trace logs or monitor). Most other vendors do have such including Hipath 4000 PBX.

Anyways, your further thoughts are still very much welcomed and highly appreciated.

Try - Log on via ComWin/Expert Access

DISPLAY-SBCSU:TYPE=IPSEARCH,IPADDR="*"."*"."*"."*";

Hi @sbcsu at this command
DIS-SBCSU:,OPTIDAT;
i got IP phone data

Thanks all, here is the feedback.

1. Thanks @sbcsu I tested your command DISPLAY-SBCSU:TYPE=IPSEARCH,IPADDR="*"."*"."*"."*"; on HiPath 4000 and it seemed to give the IPs of all HFA devices but NOT SIP softphones. Would appreciate if there is a command to discover the IPs of SIP extensions.

2. I am looking for an easy way to discover the IPs of remote HFA phones on HiPath 3800 etc

3. @donb01 I tried , but this did not work, (even tried pinging the name only without the https but this also did not work, perhaps the name only works for Windows hosts maybe more phone settings have to be done)

4.@IPEXE, DIS-SBCSU:,OPTIDAT; also gave the IP of phones, amongst other details, but the SIP softphone IP still shows up as 0.0.0.0

In summary
==========
Would appreciate any help on

1. how to check HFA IP address from HiPath 3000 Manager or WBM,
2. Check SIP Softphone IP Address on Hipath 4000 comwin or WBM

Thanks and expecting your feedbacks....

From my experience the softphone and others will only show up with an IP address in the command DIS-SBCSU:TYPE=IPSEARCH etc
if it is currently registered to the STMI card

Granted, I'm on a 4000..... but you should see it here in the GUI...

LoPath
Maintain HiPath 4000 V5 & V6, OpenScape Xpert V4, Xpressions, Contact Center

Correct - the ones you do not see are 'Client Registered = False'
Same as ComWin - will only show if currently registered.
How else is the HiPath supposed to know the IP address ?

i think the only solution to manage the HFA phones is ,you need to use a DLS server .

Thanks All,

But I guess using DLS would require more cost/licenses??

Basic DLS usage is free. It will start with a trial, and from what I am told now you will have to request a "Free" license after the trial is up. If you want to use some of the more advanced features you would have to license it. I recommend it - it's like a gift from the gods! :eek:) Sure it takes a little bit of setup, but once that's done you can set it so to deploy a new phone all you have to do is send it to the user and tell them to plug it into a data jack.... (more or less). :)
