How to find filename of embedded object

I am inheriting a database system. They have a separate database set up to store the bitmap images. They want it that way.

My question is how do I know what the name of the bitmap is? All I see in the field is "Bitmap Image". Does it not store the filename when storing the bitmap in the database? If it doesn't, if I add a text field to store the filename can I have it store it automatically ... just the filename, not the entire path?

If the object is emebedded rather than linked then I don't believe there is a name to retrieve. It is just an internal database object.
