Hello,

It's a bit strange problem. In order to use DR option in ARCserve2000 you have to make a full backup (all files/partitions have to be selected in My Computer tree; the icon has to be green; very important; it took some time to realize that)of a computer. Now, when you have Exchange server you also get M drive. This drive shouldn't be normally backed up becouse it can interfere/make some problems with EX2K.
Is there any way that M is well selected but somehow excluded from the backup? Or any other solutions?

thanks,

Alen

As I recall, the exclusion of ANY object in the job specification meant that it wasn't a full backup and hence allegedly wasn't suitable for DR. I don't recall if this was a procedural requirement or a technical one. However, assuming it is a technical one, can you not exclude the M: drive via the excludes filter on the job ?

Yes, you're right. I searched for that exclusion filter in options but couldn't find it. As you mentioned that I've right clicked on My Computer icon and Here you are! I still have to test it though. So if I get it right "M" drive remains checked in the job but with right exclusions it stays intact after the backup?

You recall it good. Only a full backup creates a full DR folder in ARCserve path. Otherwise it creates uncomplete folder that is usless by DR means.

Thanx

HI...

YES YOU CAN EXCLUE THE M: USING THE EXCLUSION FILTERS....

The only requesite is that the M: should be selected for backup....

if you setup an exclusiong filter...

Exclude FIle pattern M:\*.*
Exclude Directory pattern M:\*

This would still be a good backup as far as DR is concerned..
