Hi,

I'm trying to prevent .pst's from being backed up on my File & Print servers.
I have a Global Filter of *:\**\*.pst
I'm not sure this is working properly as it seems pretty hit and miss.
Does anyone have one that they know works?

Cheers

That filter should work but you have to apply it to all subclients either thru global filters and then at the client or thru the client manually, in version 8 you have a comcell level policy and this makes it easier, also for anyone else reading v8 allows you to retain all jobs at one time, instead of one at a time :)

Commvaultdude,

Yup the filter is applied correctly.

I have a few other filters that do seem to work and they have a \** on the end.

*:\**\Disksets*\**
*:\**\I386*\**
*:\**\RECYCLER*\**

So I'm thinking I probably need to add that to my .pst one.
Although I thought the above template meant the following:

*:\ = drive letter
**\ = any folder/sub-folder
"disksets*" = called disksets
\** = any sub-folders of "disksets"

And as I'm just wanting to filter .pst's, would've thought the \** at the end is not needed?
