hi everyone,

I am a totally newbie to phone system. Please bear with me. I will very appreciate your response.

I have ip406 with 4 ports analouge cards on slot A. I want to connect my fax machine to one of the port.
However, I do not hear anything when I pick up the phone set.

Could you please give me some hints or reference me some instructions ?

Here are the links of pictures in Analouge Trunk tab.

thanks

You plug the phone line into the Analog Trunk card. Then plug the fax (or a normal phone) into Phone 1 or 2 on the front of the IPO.

I think I misunderstood.
Because we have lots of DID numbers, I thought I can plug my fax machine to one of the ports on the card.

Moreover, both POTS 1 and 2 are occupied. That's why I need additional ports for my fax machine.

If I want to connect my fax machine to it, what should I do ?

Thanks

you will need to purchase a Phone8, 16, 30 module for more SLT ports, unless you just run the fax sepeartly on its on fax line, bypassing the pabx totally

What is SLT ports ?
Is that an additional card plugged into SLOT A or SLOT B ?

Could you please give me a link of the product.
Maybe when I see the picture I can understand more.
Because I do not want to purchase the wrong thing

Thanks

Cards on the back of the 406 are for trunks (lines) not devices. The 406 has two "POT" ports on the front that will allow you to connect an analog device such as a fax machine.

The modules RotoOrb is talking about are the same size as the IP406 that sit on top of the IP406 base unit and connect to it through a cable connected to the expansion port of the IP406 base unit. They will provide more SLT's (Single line telephone) ports for a fax machine or a single line telephone. Avaya's support site has all the docs you will need.

thank you so much. I will do more research on my own.
