I have created a shortcut that has a custom made icon and links to a URL. It works fine from my desktop. I'd like to be able to email it to someone and have them save it to their desktop, having it look and work just like it does on my desktop. If I include the shortcut as an attachment, then it loses the URL when saved to the other PC's desktop. I tried zipping it and then unzipping and extracting at the other PC. That preserved the URL but lost the icon. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,

Brian

include the icon in the zip file?

Yes I did. I was hoping that the icon would somehow be attached to the shortcut, so that I would not have to instruct the user on where to save the icon file and how to assign it to the shortcut. Guess there's no way around not doing that.

you could zip it with the folder structure so it unzips to the specified location

Do you have write access to the website? If it is a shortcut to a URL, the websites favicon.ico will display.
