Hi,

how do I edit a hyperlink field in an MS Access database from within a Visual Basic 6 application?
The Data Type of the column in the database table is already Hyperlink. (I can edit, save, load an Access database with my VB6 application, but now I want to add hyperlinks. Can't figure this one out)

Thanks in advance.

I think a "hyperlink" is just another name for a memo field, but with the connotation that the "memo text" in it represents a URL and a descriptive (display) name.

A hyperlink column is divided into subfields internally using the # character as I recall. It seems like there were four subfields, and some rules about the syntax when one or more are left out. I'll post a link to an accurate description if I find one.

Try About Hyperlinks.

They went nuts there with collapsing lists, so you'll need to do some "clicking" on that page to reveal all of the info. Read all of it, because without both the explanations and the examples at that page it might not come clear to you.

Hope this helps!

Thanks dilettante, this was really helpful!
The About Hyperlinks gave me the info I needed.
My program works, I can edit the hyperlinks now.
