I am running Windows 98 and I have discovered that there are names of devices in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum. I can dump these names into a text file, but I think this shows all devices ever installed on the computer, and I want to just dump what is shown in Device Manager.

If there is a way, how could I dump a list of installed devices into a text file using Windows 98 or 2000 or XP?

There is a print button in the device manager...

I forgot about that, and I just found out that I can print to a file instead of to the printer. But do you know how I can read the "printer file" format it saves it as or how to print the data off once it's saved on my harddrive? The file saves as a .prn and I'm running Windows 98.

The .PRN files can be directly read by Windows WordPad. Open with that. Your mileage may vary...
