How to draw crescent shapes in Draw 10

Hi folks

I'm a new user to Corel Draw 10. I'm stuck on how to draw crescent shapes. If I use the Beizer tool and draw two single line arcs, I can group them together and this forms the shape I want. However I cannot fill any colour into this shape. Probabaly because its not a closed object. On the other hand if I draw two elipses, fill them both with colour (the front elipse being white) and slightly overlap the two and group them, I also get the desired shape, but now if I wish to apply shadows etc I get shadows for both elipses.

How can I draw a crescent (swish shape as I call it!!) and be able to fill it in, apply shadows etc.

Here's what you do: create two elipses, make them different colours if you like to see them better. Put the second one on top of the first in position to mask out what you dont want (to form the crescent). Then select both objects >ARRANGE>TRIM>, the trim flyout menu with appear, click the TRIM button and select the first elipse with the arrow, then delete the second elipse. That should do it!

Sorry..I'm actually using CorelDraw Version 8 here at work, I have version 10 at home. But it is basically the same process.
