How to disconnect lines using busy tone instead of clear disconnect

Has anyone had any experience with using IP Office with lines that do not have clear/reliable disconnect? I'm in the US with an IP500V2 8.0.16 and this phone company is apparently not sending a clear/reliable disconnect signal, the lines are not disconnecting when someone hangs up leaving a voice mail which results in a long message of dial tone and "busy" signal. I've tried turning on the busy tone detection (which I found under System->Telephony->Tones & Music)and after I click on the box I save it (Immediate reboot) but when I go back to look at it the box is unchecked again. I've also tried this on release 7.0(27).

Does anyone have any idea why I can't save the busy tone disconnect option? Or is there a better way to do it? Thanks in advance :)

you can play with the disconnect clear on the lines. it is defaulted to 500ms and you can bring that down. it may take a few tries to get it right. the lowest i have gone would be 200ms. it can result in dropped calls if it is too low.

I brought it down to 150 ms but it still wasn't disconnecting. I was afraid to go lower because calls may drop. The telephone company claims the disconnect time is 800 ms and not adjustable. Thanks for the post, any other thoughts would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with a customer. Although it was an older version of IP Office and an Older unit. He only just had his ISDN's but in and there was a problem back at the exchange? The provider sorted the problem rather than it being an system problem.

try this:

SYSTEM/TELEPHONY/TELEPHONY

Unsupervised Analog Trunk Disconnect Handling: Default = Off. Software level = 8.0+
When using analog trunks, various methods are used for trunk supervision, ie. to detect when the far end of the trunk has disconnected and so disconnect the local end of the call. Depending on the locale, the system uses Disconnect Clear signalling and or Busy Tone Detection. This setting should only be enabled if it is know that the analog trunks do not provide disconnect clear signalling or reliable busy tone. When enabled:

· Disconnect Clear signalling detection is disabled. Busy tone detection remains on.

· Unsupervised transfers and trunk-to-trunk transfers of analog trunk calls are not allowed. The Allow Analog Trunk to Trunk Connect setting on analog trunks (Line | Analog Options) is disabled.

· If Voicemail Pro is being used for external call transfers, Supervised Transfer actions should be used in callflows rather than Transfer actions.

· For systems in a Small Community Network, all systems in the network must have this setting set to match each other.

You can check what the busy signal is just to be sure it matches what your "locale" says (US in your case). You can do this with the Audacity software (free download), a laptop with microphone and a phone with speaker. For a better measure you can record 10 sec. of busy signal, then divide how many ON and OFF you have.
Hope this can help.

Thanks for your posts guys. I think SIP trunks might be a good option for this system.
