We purchased new phones that were suppose to not have the speaker phone option. Instead of shipping back 50phones, I figure I can disable the speaker phone option in the CLS. I go to change the CLS to HFD-Hands Free Deined. I go to check the phones and the speaker phone still works. What else can I try?

If I remember correctly, HFD just disables the microphone, not the speaker. A user can listen to a caller on the speaker, but the caller can not hear them until they pick up the handset.

correct, with hfd ir a 2008 non speaker, you can still dial a call and here ring back but you need to pick up the handset to talk..

If you do not want audible sound, I beleive you need a screwdriver.

sorta takes away the ringer

I prefer Jack and Coke myself...wait...wrong screwdriver. Sorry. :)

As far as I know, there is no way to disable the speaker short of pulling/cutting wires. But as John stated, you will not have ringing anymore either.

Doh! A little short sighted....wasn't I?

If you want to get complicated configure a 500 set for each digital set, then connect the 500 set to an audible ringer, then get out the screwdriver.

50 phones is a lot to do that for though....
