How to dial 9 and route calls out of other PBX?

We're going to be testing a non-Avaya system soon and we're going to link the two together with ISDN PRI trunks (you may have seen my other thread here about that). Anyway, I'm trying to figure out a way for a user on the non-Avaya system to simply dial 9 and the number they want and then have the call go over the tie trunks, hit ARS in the Avaya switch and then route to the outside world as normal. I'm having trouble making this work. Right now the 'other switch' is a G3si that I had sitting around so I'm testing this scenario using that switch to simulate the non-Avaya switch. Any ideas?

pz31g22,

this is a classical case of tandeming. this can be done in numerous ways, but the simplest is to set up a trunk between two stations, and then on definity's side, in the trunk group settings on the third page assign a service feature, length of the called number (whatever your local city dial plan is), and then set 'insert digit' field to whatever your ars access feature access code is. in my case, it could be service/feature 'tie' or 'tandem', called len 7 and insert '9'. when the other side sends call setup with 7 digit called number, definity will insert 9 before those digits and then route this call to ars analysis. the rest of it is simple and you should know it.
note that you can send all calls by not limiting called number length. just insert your aar/ars access fac and you will get your tandem calls hit aar or ars all the time.

Seems like I tried something like that and I couldn't make it work. BUT, I did finally get it to work like this:

Test system (will be non-Avaya, but for now it's a G3si) inserts a
96 in front off all calls and this goes out to the tie trunks. So
for example, if I dial 9-333-4444, it goes to the tie trunks as 9-6-
333-4444. Once it gets to the G3r, I use ARS digit conversion,
looking for a leading 6 (you see, the G3r sees the 9 in front as ARS
and therefore looks at the ARS Dig. Conv. table. So now ARS digit
conversion says to delete the leading digit (6) and insert 221 (AAR
code). AAR now looks at it and says ok, that's going to go to route
pattern 11. Route pattern 11 gets the call with the digits 221-333-
4444. SO now I delete the leading 3 digits from the front and there
you have it!...call goes out to the world :) Take a trip around
the world before it gets there, but it DOES get there :)

It can be done as dwalin states, you need to make sure the trunk group on the Avaya has a COR that allows outgoing calls.
