How to determine the ipaddres of the system connected to the switch

Hi All,
Is there a way to find out the ipaddress of the systems that are connected to the switches.

sh interface, does not give any information on this.

Hi,

If your using all cisco kit and have CDP running ( cisco discovery protocol ) then try

show ip cdp neighbors detail.

If the switch is a layer 2 device only then you will need to look at the cam tables for the relevant mac addresses:-

sh cam dyn

or

sh mac address
 
do a show mac on the switch.. get the mac of the machine connected to the port. go to the router in the segment and do a show arp. the arp table will tell you the ip address and mac address of all machines that have communicated with the router. just match up the mac you got from the switch. unless your switch is layer 3.. then you just stick to the switch.
