I always have problem determining the DRAM and flash of the myriad of IOS and this 2950 running a 12.1(9)EA1 is giving me a headache.

Show version:

Now what does the 20Meg thingie mean? Shared RAM between flash and DRAM or just DRAM and show flash will tell the amount of flash?

Hi

Your switch has 20 MB of DRAM:
cisco WS-C2950-24 (RC32300) processor (revision F0) with 20815K bytes of memory.

A 'show flash' will tell you how much flash you have, and how much of it is currently used. The 'show version' output says that the IOS file is in there, and it is called
c2950-i6q4l2-mz.121-9.EA1.bin

Note that 32kB of your flash is reserved for config storage (emulating NVRAM):
32K bytes of flash-simulated non-volatile configuration memory.

Have a look at this link:

Hi.

There is a memory leaking problem in 12.1(9)EA1 caused by CDP, you can avoid it by disabling CDP.

corrected image is 12.1(9)EA1a

Flash memory and DRAM are two totally different memory. Flash memory retains it's data after being powered off.
