I'm trying to find a reliable way to determine which Crystal Report designer version was used to create any specific report earlier.

We have hundreds of reports and have been created by different CR version including CR 7.0, 8.5, 9.0, 10. XI.

Now we are using CR XI.
When we try to open any report in XI, which was previously created on an older version, requested for update, which i can do easily but for documentation, versioning and clients sake we need to know on which version it was previously created.

Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

Open your report in Crystal Reports and then export it to Report Definition format. You can then open this file in Notepad or any text editor. You will see the report version under the "1.0 File Information" section.

Thanks

aks12 and chelseatech.
