How to deploy Interbase application + database to laptop?

Hi,

I've a (CBuilder) application with a Interbase dtabase and I want to deploy it to a laptop. Is it possible without installing Interbase on the laptop? E.g. by copying the databasefile (*.gdb) and some drivers (gd32.dll and interbase.msg)?

I get error "Unknown username or password, unavailable database"

What is the right way?

You can only use these datafiles if you install InterBase.

"gds32.dll" is not a driver, it's an interface that you use to connect to a service listening on a server machine.

Install Interbase..... that means an Interbase server license for every laptop?

Is it possible to use Firebird on the laptop? Can Firebird access Interbase7 database files *.gdb?

Hi,

Yes, that means InterBase (probably the "desktop" version) on every laptop.

Firebird cannot access InterBase 7 datafiles.
