A log file is hung up on a shared server for a day and I just couldn't delete it. I am sure no user is on the mdb. The log file is named "Tracking.ldb"

I found a post by severin (thread 181-1068969) and tried the following steps:
1) Open Notepad, go to File/Save As...
2) save the empty file as "Tracking.ldb". This replaces the existing "bad" ldb. Save is success.
3) I try to delete the new Tracking.ldb file, but still can't delete it. The file size shows 0kb.

Any help would greatly appreciated!

Regards, mdli

I have encountered this as well. The solution was this:
"Unlike files on a work-station which most likely used by one user, the server keeps track of open file and you cannot delete an open file on the server. You need server / network administrator right to close the open file before (using Admin console) to close the open .LDB file before you can delete it." --from UtterAccess forum

Thanks for your response.

I wish there would be a better way to solve this issue. I don't think network admin will be happy to do this type of work.

I am sure there are a lot of applications running on the server. Rebooting server will have to "kick" so many users off. I don't think anyone in the company would agree to do that.

Thanks for the idea.
