How do you delete a folder that does not exist on active directory ? I have 5 folders on my file server that I decided to put inside one folder called (Group Folder). Now when I go to my domain controller on DFS and view my file server I have the 5 folder showing up, plus the (Group Folder) with those 5 folder inside.

I tried to delete the original 5 folder on active directory but it can not be deleted or when I right click on these folders it does not give me an option to delete it. I also checked on my file server those 5 original folders but it does not exist, because I placed it all on the (Group Folder). Does anyone know how can I delete this folders on active directory ? Thanks in Advance

Did you remove the DFS link for those folders?

Yes I deleted the DFS link for these folders, now I have the (Group Folder) on my DFS link with the 5 folders inside.

Does your DFS consist of multiple servers? If so, maybe the servers did not synchronize and another server has those folders.

I have two domain controller which both have DFS and I set this to replicate to one another, I have deleted both links of those 5 folders on those two DC. Then I made a link called (Group Folder) which now contains the 5 folders.

Also, I have two file servers where the (Group Folder) resides and the other file server keeps the replicated files of this (Group Folder). I did not find anything on both my file servers the original 5 folders.

The 5 original folders shows only to both my DC which Im trying to get rid off, but can not do so. Thanks for responding to my Thread. I will keep an eye for more of your responses...

Have you tried deleting the 5 folders when accessing it through DFS? What happens when you double click on of the 5 folders?

I tried deleting this by highlighting it and pressing delete but does do it; also, when I right click there is no option for me to delete this folder.

Basically this folder looks like a folder with a brown thing in the middle. I can only delete of whats inside this folder but not this folder. There is nothing inside this folder and not sure why its not letting me delete it. Thanks again...

Hmmm... without actually seeing the problem it's hard for me to say much else.

Not sure if I should have called it a folder but here's what Im trying to do
- On DFS
- I right click on DFS Link which is (Group Folder)
- I click on Open
- Under Entire Network I expanded Microsoft Windows Network
- I expanded the Domain Name
- From this expansion I can view all my servers on the network
- I click on one of the file server and from here I can see the (Group Folder) with 5 folders inside; in addition, I have the the same 5 folders outside the (Group Folder). Im trying to get rid of the 5 folders outside (Group Folder) but it does not let me. This icon looks like a folder with a brown piece of paper in the middle. Not sure what you call this icon but that's the one Im trying to delete.
- I checked it on the file server but it does not exist on that server since I moved all this 5 folders in the (Group Folder).

Is there a way to refresh my domain controllers so those 5 folders or icon will not show up on my DC ???

Thanks Again....

How about you take a screenshot of the icon and sent it to me at stevensrun@hotmail.com.
