I'm looking for a program to decipher in RH 2.1 a file which was crypted using the crypt command in a unix box.

Thanks for any tek-tip.

It think if you do 'man crypt' it'll tell you, or maybe 'crypt -h'

Eric, the problem is that crypt program doesn't exists in redhat 2.1. I found at source forge a program called mcrypt, it decrypt my unix crypted files very well.

Thanks.

I don't think you can de-crypt an encrypted file.

Depends on which crypt they're talking about. The crypt used on /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow can't, but it sounds like tehy're talking about the other crypt -- the one that can be decrypted.

Thanks a lot. My files are decrypted now.
