I hate the way the quick launch is set up in xp. I liked it much better in w2k where I could have all of my icons across the top of a two level task bar instead of all bunched up next to the start button. Does anyone know if there is a way to get them to display along the top?

Can anyone tell me how I did this with my Quick Launch? I really like it like this but can't seem to replicate it on my laptop. I remember dragging it to my desktop and it turned to an explorer window. It is basically on top of the task bar completely, not inside it. I have an image of it but don't know how to upload it to this forum.

It is hard to put into words. I'll do my best. I found it easier to work on the bottom of the screen. I found I had to have some running tasks and the desktop toolbar 'ticked' to get the taskbar to 'behave'.

Unlock the taskbar and turn off auto hide.

Put the taskbar on the bottom of the screen.

Open & minimize three applications (3 explorer windows will do).

Ensure the QL and desktop toolbars are ticked.

Drag the taskbar to be 3 - 4 rows deep.

Arrange so that the order (left to right) is QL, running tasks, desktop, information area.

Grab the QL bar and drag off the taskbar and back to the taskbar without letting go. This should put the QL bar as the top row. (If it doesn't - re-arrange so that the order (left to right) is QL, running tasks, desktop, information area and try again.

Close the desktop toolbar if you don't want it.

Drag the taskbar to the top of the screen and then set the height and other preferences to your tastes.

Best of luck - you have to fiddle quite a bit as the taskbar seems to have a mind of its own at times LOL.

I've used the Qucik Launch toobar for yars and just started having problems with it. I usuualy have QL at the top of my desktop so if I have a browser open, the QL toolbar is on the top of the browser and I can still have "1 click" access to my most used programs.

3 days ago, the QL toolbar disappeared and when I turned it back on, it now appears at the bottom of the desktop in my taskbar and to the right of the start button.

The Task Bar is not locked and though it the system appears to let me drag and drop the QL toolbar to the top of my desktop, after I try to "drop" QL at the top of my desktop, the QL toolbar remains as part of the task bar.

Does anyone know of any hidden settings out there which might be preventing me from dragging my QL toolbar to the top of my desktop?

Many Thanks

Thanks,
