Hi All

I am using HP OpenView NNM ver 6.0 on Windows NT server machine having NTFS file system.
As per the produre I have made a "router" submap showing only routers of my network(after applying filter). I want a user name "XYZ" to access only this particular map from web browser. For that I have created OV account for it. I have edited htgroup and session.conf file. So now it very correctly asks for the user login thro we browser.

Problem: Whenever I login with this user name, I must get the "router" map only not the complete "default" map. I have also correctly given user permissions to snapinfo.dir file in map database.

I am now literally blank and don't know how to make a particular map available for particular user. Every time I access it gives that default map only.

Hope any of you expert can solve my difficulty..
with warm regards

Nilesh

Hi there netconsult, actually NNM and VPO are always going to take any user to the default map.

You can play with filters, submaps, and even the Quick Navigator, but everyone is going to access your default map.

The feature you are looking for is called Customer View, an add-on to NNM and VPO, that you can buy from HP.

But if you tell us in detail what are you exactly trying to accomplish we may come up with different ways to solve it, ok?

Hi Vlan52,

Thanks !
I will describe what I am looking for.
I have three user say nilesh, rahul and tushar..ok
I have created three different submap one with router only another with servers only and third one with some other combination for display.
say I want following members to view:
nilesh - router submap only
rahul - server submap only and
tushar - other map only.

Whenever any of this user access the Network Presenter through web he/she is asked for login name and password(which I did successfully) then he/she are authenticated by HP Openview NNM. What I want that, that particular user should see the submap he is responsible for and not the default one.
Can you tell me what configuration is need to be done in NNM for this to achieve. Or some other add-on as you wrote is required ?

i hope there must be some configuration in NNM without any add-on is needed for it.
I am eagerly waiting for it...

I'm sorry netconsult, but I' m really convinced that is not possible to do that, I actually have the same problem with a customer and they are going to buy Customer View.

So they can access our NNM/VPO and view only their maps and nodes, topology, etc...

Is really too bad that HP didn't come up with this feature inside NNM, just a couple of tricks with VPO but not much really...well...you know...bussines are bussines...uh?
