Hello All,

I have a hunt group called HGSALES on ext. 707. On a users phone there is one button that flashes when a call comes in on the group. I would like to have a second button if at all possible.

Any help is appreciated. If provided info is not enough please let me know.

Thanks,

John

dial feature # 0 at that phone, then press that key to see what is programed there.

Don't know of a way to do it directly through hunt group, but depending on how your hunt group is set up, you could achieve it by using an ANSWER DN of another set in the group.
Tell us a bit more about what you need, and how your group is set up. Broadcast? Squencial? Rotary?

Well the Hunt Group is HG01: HGSALES as shown in system programming. I have all sales reps as member DN's. The order is sequential with about 3 ring delay overflowing to another phone that forwards to Voice Mail which is the Sales voice mail account.

On an M7310 there are 10 programmable buttons for lines and such. Starting from the top left they are as follows.
1. HGSALES (Flashes when a call comes in for Huntgroup)
2. BLANK (I want this to be a second HGSALES button for the hunt group)
3. BLANK
4. BLANK
5. BLANK
6. INTERCOM
7. INTERCOM
8. INTERCOM
9. INTERCOM
10. MUTE/HANDSFREE

So do you think button 2 could be another Huntgroup Button?

Thanks,

John

No, but I think button 5 could be an answer DN of the next set in your sequence. I'm interested to see other posts on this because you have me very curious. Maybe we can all learn something here.

Im not sure I want to do Answer DN's considering those in sales are in one office and can hear eachothers phones. They are in a pickup group. They can answer multiple direct calls to thier extension just not hunt group calls. There must be a way! I'm waiting to see if anyone else can think of anything, but you have helped me many times. I believe you work for one of my vendors.

Thank You,

John

P.S. Keep thinking I have faith in you.

John, tell us a bit more on the reasoning, and a senario (sp) or two. Maybe it will trigger a new thought process. That's what is fun about Norstar, you can almost always find a way to do some cute things with it.
Thanks for the kind comments.

I need a spell checker on this forum.

Just a thought... If the goal is to be able to answer multiple calls to the HG, couldn't you set the HG to ring only so it comes in on an Intercom key? Then if you need more call handling space, increase the # of intercom keys.

I've only played around with hunt groups, so if there's a reason you want/need it to come in on a key, please excuse my ignorance! :)

elturko,
How do you assign a hunt group to ring only? I don't think you can do it that way, but ??????????????

At least on the BCM 3, it's under the Hunt Group > Member setting. Choices are the same as those for line assignment: Appear&Ring, Ring Only, Appear Only.

- Click on the keys beside Services, Telephony Services, and Hunt groups.
- Click the key beside the Hunt group (Hunt group 1-30).
- Click on Members.
- At the top of the navigation tree, click the Add button.
- Type a set number in the DN number box.
- Click the Save button.
- On the navigation tree, click the member number you created or that you want to change.
The Hunt Group ## - Member ### screen appears.
- Choose the Appearance type to define how the call appears on the set.
• Appr&Ring (default): The incoming call number appears on the display and the set rings.
• Ring only: The incoming call rings at the set, but no number is displayed.
• Appr only: The incoming call displays on the set, but the set does not ring.

Should've mentioned I never tried it on plain Norstar, so it may be a BCM thing. Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up... ;-)

The ring only deal does work. When you go into the Member DN's menu under the Hunt Group you can set it to Ring only and so forth. I tried it and had no problems, but I was hoping to use a huntgroup button so the employees knew when a customer pressed the option for Sales. I am happier though and so is our sales manager because the team can now accept multiple calls.

Thank You all for your help.

Regards,

John

P.S. Sorry for my delay in responding.

elturko,
Good information. That one had me bugged. I have never set one up that way. Thanks for your input.

Finally found what I was looking for in THE BOOK:

"There can be only one appearance of the same hunt group on a set. The appearance can be one of three types: Appr&Ring, Appr only, or Ring only"

That is what threw me off to think you could only get one hunt group call at a time. Thanks for clearing this up.
