Hi there,

I have used Quark many times, however am a bit rusty and need to create a sixty page booklet. My question is, how do I set up the booklet, is it best to use an online template?
Also, when importing all the text, what is the best way? Do I import all the text, link the pages and then start formatting it or do I do a section at a time?

Please advise.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

stephmaya,

I wouldn't use an online template myself, but if there's one you really like that's well-suited for the type of document you're creating, why not?

As for setting up the document, this is one of the rare instances where I'd recommend checking Facing Pages and Automatic Text Box in the Document Setup. This way you can just import the text and not worry about linking individual boxes.

The easiest and safest way to format your document is with Paragraph and Character Styles. I'd create a body copy paragraph style; styles for bulleted lists, numbered lists, and other variations should be based on the body copy style. I'd also create paragraph styles for other repeated elements such as heads and subheads. If you do have bulleted lists you'll want to create a character style for bullets themselves. You may want character styles for other things as well.

The great thing about styles is that once they're applied, you can just edit a style and your formatting changes are automatically reflected in your document. It's way faster and more reliable than reformatting everything by hand, and it gives you a better understanding of how your document is structured.

I could go on forever but surely you're confused enough by now.

Okay I think I will create my own setup as I haven't found any half decent templates I would like to use.

Thank you very much for your help!
