Does anyone know how I *properly* covert the swell drawings of machinery I make in AutoCAD to Visio stencils? When I change them to DXF and import them, they get hopelessly large (even when the diagram is a simple box) and Visio gets hopelessly slow. I would like to import and color so that folks in my group can use them in Visio, since I'm the only one who really needs AutoCAD. Many thanks for replys.

have you tried insert > autocad drawing > and inserting the .dwg instead of the dxf.

In either case the inserted image should have handles that you can resize the drawing, conversely, you can rescale visio to equate to the acad scale or to be proportional.

I've done that, but the drawing gets too large and Visio gets too slow. I think I just figured it out - after months of goofing around with it. The way to go is to copy/paste the AutoCAD block into Adobe Illustrator. In Illustrator, you can define colors and line widths. Once you have your object the way you like it, you then paste it into Visio. You can resize the object without trouble, and if you ungroup it, you can edit it.

Thanks for your help just the same.

Thanks for posting your solution.
