I want to install NT w.s on my hard drive.I am running 98 on my c: partition. My d: partition is formatted for fat 32 also.I tried to use 622dos to reformat the d drive, but it can't reconize it because its not a dos filing system.I heard I could convert my whole hard drive to fat 16 and not loose my c drive o.s and files. This would allow me to install NT.How do I do this? Thanks.

I would suggest you do one of two things--

Either dump what you have and start from scratch with the 98/NT dual boot configuring drive C to FAT16.

Or skip NT4 altogether and go with Windows 2000, it supports FAT32.

Not only are you having to contend with the File System, but you will probably have to deal with partition size. If your drive is greater than 2gb, you would need to resize it and convert it...possible data loss here. Windows 9x/Dos only supports a 2gb FAT16 partition.
Doug
dxd_2000@yahoo.com

98 and 95 r2 support fat32 partitions. nt4 won't see or boot from fat32, win 2000 will dual boot, run fat32 fat16 ntfs partitions with no probs

I recently acquired a computer with a 13g HD running Win98 and Fat32. I needed to install NT server4 on it. I eventually wound up having to find a driver for the HD so that I could recognize all of the drive under FAT16 and then use fdisk and format to reformat the HD under Fat16. I lost ALL the data on the drive. (I expected that, but would have been nice if not :) ) I then re-installed Win98, and then installed NT. One reason to reinstall 98 was that the CD was not on the HCL, and the other was that I now have dual boot capabilities. BTW, it has four partitions on it now.
