how to control a folder security

hello!
i want to show a shared folder's security attribute ,such as who can read the file in which folder;
who can write the a new file into the folder ;who can have the complete control;
can i do this with the vbscrip ,my boss want me to write a program to control the shared folders

Visit the Microsoft web site and download a copy of XCACLS.vbs. It can do it all for you, report and change permissions.

It is really useful, but it needs to be install on the machine and also need to work with cscript.exe.

is there any other way ....

Please explain your need a little more, why are those problems? The XCACLS.exe is just a self extracting ZIP file. It will dump the VBS file on the machine for you. You have the option to dump the results of XCACLS to a text file for review.
