Dear all;
is there any way to connect Mitel 3300 with norstar.
or is there any one he did it.
and can he tel me the way.

Kindly regards
Ala'a

Never done it or heard of it done but I can imagine that using analog stations of one system to supply dialtone to analog trunks of the other would provide limited communication between the 2.

What kind of norstar? Never done that personaly but don't see any issues. What is the purpose of this connection?

Hi slapin;
I've a customer with 2-sites new and the old norstar want to add to him the ippone facilites and voip with the new site.
he have mics norstar up to 128 extensions and he want not to change the system directly.

I have tested an Opt 11 and 3300 integraation using qsig. Works great using Mitel as Master or Slave. Able to communicate with Call Pilot, embedded Mitel voicemail or Nupoint; turn lamps on and off and have transparency in both systems

Thanks KwbMITEl
but as you said it'll give me limited connection and limited feature

Hi nytalkin
but did you know if norstar have the same facilites the Qsig also.

Sell them a Citel gateway, then they can maintain use of their norstar sets.

I am quite sure the Norstar Mics will not support Qsig. You might be able to achieve a basic T1 (E&M type) interface.

You would need hardware on Both systems to make it work.

The Citel suggestion is expensive as well and basically replaces the Mics and allows the Nortel sets to function on the 3300 platform. Not sure what the set limit is, but 128 is significant and would need to be checked. This requires hardware as well.

Are both these systems on the same site?

How much $ are you willing to spend?

I have a BCM 400 interconnected with a MITEL SX2000 LIGHT.
(Dont' ask why, the answer is scarier than the question.)

The BCM 400 is using a Norstar Module with 2 Tie Trunk Cards in it. Your MITEL 3300 has to have a PERS node cabinet for analog extensions or trunks and a Mitel E&M Trunk Card.

Back to back cross connection

T1 R1 T R SB M SG E (sys 2)

KE407122, Nice, but do you really thing a BCM400 is comparable to a Norstar MICS?

The Question is about linking a NORSTAR MICS with a 3300.

BCM's are just Norstars on steroids.

The trunk module and E&M trunk cartridges are Norstar. The 12X0 Trunk Module supports 3 DISA/E&M trunk cartridges. Each trunk cartridge supports 2- E&M Type II Tie Lines.

There are no E&M cards for direct installation in the BCM. We use a Fibre Bus Module in the BCM to connect to the Fibre-optic Cabled TM.

It was designed in such a way to allow Norstar MICS customers to partially migrate to a BCM and still use existing digital set module and analog trunk modules.
The BCM would just replace the 0X32 MICS KSU.

The embedded features from Nortel keysets do not work over qsig but MSG WTG, and FWD codes to and from voicemail works great. I've found that this is the least expensive way to integrate and gives you a very inexpensive way to add VOIP to your Nortel.
