what is the best way to connect a Norstar MICS6.o to a NEC phone switch

why do you want to do that?

Assuming NEC supports these interfaces
voip gateway
T1/PRI
E&M

the customer has a NEC switch already and wants to add a Nortel switch and have the two be able to share some of the lines and transfer calls between the two

I agree with what senk1s said, but I think a DTI/E&M T-1 is your best option, unless the NEC can emulate a CO, then you may be able to do PRI if you have a PRI enabler keycode in the Norstar. The VOIP gateway might be an option depending on how many trunks you need, and if you can find something compatible with the NEC. You may be able to use the Norstar VOIP gateway on the NEC as well.

Or just sell them a replacement for the NEC.... :)

NEC can provide analog ports
Norstar can do analog ports
Connect the analog ports of one system to available CO ports on the other. A bit of fancy programming later and you are done {old school}

Thanks for the inputs......
