Hey there,

I need to connect one 15K HP SAS HDD (HP Spare: 504334-001) to my PC running Windows 7 Professional. Purely to wipe it, I do not require any RAID solution. I'm assuming I need to install a controller? My motherboard has the following slots:

PCI Express x1
PCI Express x8
PCI Express x16
Standard PCI

Thanks.

doesnt it have a sata connector when out of the cradle?!

Lemon13: No, it would have a SAS connector, they are not the same. Although a SAS controller can run SATA drives, the reverse is not true.

K3lvin: This should work in either the PCIex8 or PCIex16 Supermicro Add-on Card AOC-SASLP-MV8 Storage controller- Serial ATA-300 / SAS- 300 MBps by Supermicro.

Brilliant! I do love this forum...always get my questions answered.
