Hi All,

I have a enterprise4500 installed solaris 8. I want to know how to confirm hardware such as tape, cdrom, diskette installed in the box. I run prtdiag, however, it can only show cpu, memory, io board, and nic &.

could anybody tell me how can I confirm those devices installed or not and also check out their model?

Thanks!

For the tape drive, put a tape in and try mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status.

For the CDrom, put a CD in and it should automount and be visible with a df -k.

Hi KenCunningham,

thanks for your answer, however it is not what I wanted. I just wanted an effective way to check such hardware. for example if I can't access the box physically, I can't put in a tape or cd, how can I check it out?

any way, thanks you very much!

sorry, I tried prtconf and it doesn't show any information about cdrom or tape.
