I dual boot Windows 2000 and ME. When I shut down, ME automatically turns the computer off, but 2000 gives me the "It's now safe to shut down" message. How can I change it so 2000 shuts down automatically too?

Win2K Pro- Just like computadorka stated in the Power Options Applet in the Control Panel.

Win2K server-Cannot be done. You have to manually turn it off. James Collins

I am wondering if my shutdown sequence is correct. I am running Win2K and when I shutdown the machine goes through the shutdown of Windows and sounds like it powers off, but then goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor for a couple of seconds and then turns off. This doesn't seem right to me, is there a fix I am missing? Thanks.

In the bios set the plug and play to "yes" and it will automaticly turn off your computer when you turn it off for windows 2k. Works for me that way.

I am using the Phoenix BIOS A07 in my Dell GX1 and I don't recall the PnP to be an option in that BIOS, although I could be wrong. I will check when I get home on my machine. Thanks for the help. If this is not the case, no PnP, do you have any other suggestions? Thanks again.

I have been given this by a friend who says it works: Find the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrenVersion\Winlogon - value PowerDownAfterShutdown - change value to 1. This however wont work unless your BIOS supports it.
