we have order new DIDs from Mitel. They are installed on SIP trunks. I have setup a extention that work internaly but will not ring in from the outside. The new dids have a differnt area code?

Hi,

A good way to check the incoming are getting through is to turn the messaging in maintenance "ccs trace enable continuos" then make an incoming call, you will see the call come in with the digits the SIP Provider has sent to you. Assuming you know the numbers?

If the calls are coming in OK then all you have to do is have a look in the trunk attributes or trunk service assigment form and look for the entry for SIP Trunks to see how many digits are being absorbed from the incoming number, "Dial In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Absorb 8" if its 8 then that would leave you 4 digits to play with. If you have a 3 digit numbering scheme it would absorb 9. If that dosent seem correct then the digits may well be being manipulated in the System Speed Dial Form.

If the DDI's you have dont match your extn numbering scheme for example 44 191 2224121 would normaly go to extn 4121, then you will have to manipulate the digits to match for example 44 191 2224121 you might want to send that DDI to extn 3121, then you could create a system speed dial 4121 and point it to 3121. The speed dial length is linked to how may digits are absorbed in the Trunk Service.

If these numbers clash with something else then thats a whole new ball game but hopefully you may be ok.

Dont forget to disable the "CCS Trace Disable" in maintenance.
