I've inherited a system and need to configure a huntgroup to forward calls to other extensions as A then B then A, etc. I've tried configuring the huntgroup as linear and circular but it always forwards to the first extension in the list. Am I missing something???? Any assistance much appreciated.

I may be misunderstanding BUT, if you wish to overflow calls to another set of extensions create a new group in hunt groups and add the extensions you wish to ring, AND how you wish them to ring, eg as a group, linear, idle. Set queing and vm to your desired result.

This can then pull the call back and forth once the timer expires.

Once you have done this go back to your original group and click the add button on the overflow section and add the group you have just created.

You can then mess with your timers to suit your requirements.

What I'm trying to acheive is having people call one number and have those calls forwarded alternately to two other extensions, ie. first A, then B, then back to A.

I've created a HG with the relevant extensions but wether configured as linear or circular, calls to the HG are forwarded to the first number in the list and do not alternate.

I shouldn't think this should be hard to configure but I'm sure I'm missing something. If I can clarify further, please advise.

thnx.

Hunt group types.
#

*

Collective (also known as Group)
All telephones in the Extension List ring simultaneously.
*

Sequential (also known as Linear and Hunt)
Each extension is rung in order, one after the other, starting from the first extension in the list each time.
*

Rotary (also known as Circular)
Each extension is rung in order, one after the other. However, the last extension used is remembered. The next call received rings the next extension in the list.
*

Longest Waiting(also known as Idle and Most Waiting)
The extension that has been unused for the longest period rings first, then the extension that has been idle second longest rings, etc. For extensions with equal idle time, 'linear' mode is used.

Make your choice from the explanation above. Linear should be working for you from you modified response. I would say you need to pull your timers down a little or check out the ways its done.

you can't forward to two different extensions
you can forward to a group with the two extensions
but it won't ring A ,B and then A again
you will cause a loop if you can make it on some strange way

?Why not just have a hunt grup containing A and then B set to rotary and direct the calls straight to it rather than forwarding from another etc etc etc.

I thank you all for your input but here's the deal. Per everyones comments I should eb able to setup a circular/rotary huntgroup and have the calls forwarded in order to the extensions in the list, right...? Well this isn;t happening. Wether the HG is linear or rotary, the calls only go to the first number in the list.

Is this indicative of some other problem....?

What are your overflow/ no answer timers set to?

They aren't. default. right now just trying to get the HG to pass calls in a rotary fashion to two extensions. Logic would suggest that configuring a HG with 2 X's in a rotary format would forward them in rotation. I can call the HG, have it forward to the 1st number, hold the line, call the HG again and it still goes to the first number in the list. I can hang up call again and it still goes to the first number in the HG.

I've setup AA, group HG's w/ no problems....it's just the 'rotary' function of the HG that doesn;t appear to be functioning.

how about Q'ing on/off. noob figured that out. Thnx for the help.
