How to completely remove a user and a mailbox?

I have a rare situation. I deleted a mailbox and a user account earlier. Now I'm creating a new user account and a mailbox. I keep running into an SMTP address problem, because these to person actually have the same first and last name, but they really are two different people. They have different pre-win2000 logon names. Since the first Jane Doe has already been removed, I don't want to give the second Jane Doe an SMTP address like jane.a.doe@domain.com, because there is no need to do that. Exchange remembers the old SMTP address. How can clean up the secret remains of the first user?

Ideas, anyone? How long will Exchange keep the old data, if it cannot be cleaned up manually?

You can find out who has that email address (probably moved to another user at the time the other user was deleted) using my script.

Thanks for all the tips! I managed to solve this problem. I just tried to hunt a mosquito with a cannon at first. After trying all the complicated problem solving methods I just created a new mail message with Outlook, typed the duplicate SMTP address and hit ctrl K to find out whom the address was assigned to. There was a third user. Nothing wrong with our Exchange organization.

Interesting plan to release mosquitoes without checking if there are any medic alert people in the audience. Anyone with a severe allergy could have been rather worried.
