We have a process that runs at night which has a number of macros that build tables. The database is running up against the 1 gig limit. How can we do a scheduled job that can compact the database in the middle of the job.

Should be easy. Just schedule a Task to run:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\msaccess.exe (location of your executable)" "C:\Documents and Settings\24sjf2\My Documents\Access Development\QAPI\DCSS QAP dB_be.mdb (the name of your db" /compact

I'm not sure what you mean by 'in the middle of the job'
