This was sent to me...any ideas??

We have a few DCP sets working OK. I found a 5621SW IP set (which I believe is designed for IP Office). When I power it up it loads it's boot file then immediately goes to "Finding Router" then eventually to "Bad Router?".

Never get an option like "* to program" as CM offers. Apparently this set has some info in NVRAM from a previous life.

Any idea how to clear the NVRAM?

hopefully they are set to DHCP - if they are then allow a fresh 46xxxsettings.txt file with the proc password set to ""

If not on DHCP then connect it to a switch and connect a pc with Wireshark on it.
See what is coming by and set up a NIC with a static IP address.
Only then you are able to let it pull a 46xxsettings.txt with HSM's settings.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Does not work if there is no "* to program"
I have been there and done that :)

Thanks for responding...tipeter is correct...need to get to the * to program prompt. This phones just sits in the discover mode. So a side question is what do phone resellers do when they resell their IP referb'd phones to clear any old IP address that the phone is looking for????

Just press * when it asked you to press it, then press # untill enter command. the typ;

"Mute" 25327 # (Mute CLEAR #)

And then Yes twice.

Indeed, you won't get it.
The same happens when you put the VPN software on it.

tciotti200, use wireshark and see what it is asking for.
I managed to get it working by using two PC's
One for the router ipaddress (it does not care if it is a router or not) and the other as fileserver.
Then on the file server change this part:
Code:
############# LOCAL PROCEDURE ACCESS SETTINGS ############
##
## Restrict Local Procedure Access
## Controls whether local (dial pad) procedures can be
## used to administer the telephone.
## 0 means local procedures can be accessed from the
## telephone.
## 1 means local procedures can not be accessed from the
## telephone.
## CAUTION:Be absolutely sure before setting PROCSTAT to 1
## SET PROCSTAT 0
##
## Local Procedure Password
## Sets password for local (dial pad) procedure access.
## (1 to 7 ASCII numeric digits). See your telephone's
## Administrator's guide for the default password
## supported by your release.
## SET PROCPSWD 9999
##

You need to change it to:

Code:
############# LOCAL PROCEDURE ACCESS SETTINGS ############
##
## Restrict Local Procedure Access
## Controls whether local (dial pad) procedures can be
## used to administer the telephone.
## 0 means local procedures can be accessed from the
## telephone.
## 1 means local procedures can not be accessed from the
## telephone.
## CAUTION:Be absolutely sure before setting PROCSTAT to 1
SET PROCSTAT 0
##
## Local Procedure Password
## Sets password for local (dial pad) procedure access.
## (1 to 7 ASCII numeric digits). See your telephone's
## Administrator's guide for the default password
## supported by your release.
SET PROCPSWD ""
##
