I have an application needs to be updated on our database server. One of the software pre-requisites is to have windows SQL Server v7.0 Service pack 4 on the server.

I know that we have SQL server v7.0, but not sure if we have service pack 4. How can I check the SQL server version and the service pack?

Normally, I would find the such inforamtion by openning the software, going to HELP, then About ..... This does not work for SQL server.

Any ideas how to find it? Your help will be appreciated.

What do you mean it doesn't work for you?! Did you run this in query analyzer?

Search Books On Line for more information on @@Version

.. and it does give you information on the your current Service Pack (if you get it to work that is)

Good Luck!

Hi
DreameR25 has the optimum solution, haven't heard @@version
being a problem, but if it still is (cant fathom why) check
out the sql error logs every time sql started it writes the verion number to the first line of the new log.
